Beautiful One Day……
Hi there,
Well I know I haven’t posted for a while, but have been fairly busy again.
Anyway, I thought it was about time I shared with you our (Tanya and I) trip to North Stradbroke Island.
It was just a weekend visit, but the island is very beautiful. Well at least the parts that we visited are!
We left around lunch time on Saturday 5th February, on the ferry which leaves from the suburb of Cleveland in Brisbane. About 45-60mins later we arrived at Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island. The ferry had about 20 vehicles on board.
From Dunwich we drove past Amity Point, to Point Lookout. We decided to go for a bit of a drive to the beach, but first we had to get to our accommodation.
We stayed at a bed and breakfast called Staddie Views. A lovely place, the hosts were very nice people. I recommend staying there if you ever go to North Straddie.
We visited Main Beach, which is a surfing beach on the east coast of North Starddie. We took quite a few photos here.
Then we went to Cylinder and Dead Man’s Beaches. We took some more photos, and then decided to go swimming at Cylinder. The water was absolutely beautiful, it was warm just like on a nice summer’s day at Port Hughes in SA. There were enough waves to do a bit of body surfing, which I paid for the next day, having quite a sore neck.
After that we went back and showered then headed to La Focaccia for an alfresco dinner. This was a quaint little BYO restaurant that served some really nice food. After stuffing ourselves silly we went for a short walk before retiring for the day.
On Sunday, after a nice sleep in, we got up for an enormous breakfast of cereal, fruit, toast, juice, bacon, scrambled or fried eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and coffee or tea. So as you can see there was no need for lunch.
Once we had checked out we headed to Frenchman’s Beach Lookout and to North Gorge to take some more photos. Check out most of the photos we took/had taken while we were at Point Lookout below.
Tanya and I drove back to Dunwich around 12pm to head back to Cleveland on the mainland. We both had a great weekend and would love to go back to trek some of the walking trails there.
Cheers for now,
Damo
